Offering my neck to Dracula

As part of The Mighty Dragon shake-up I promised guest writers, and I am very proud to announce that my first is writer Phillip E. Hardy.  His detailed dive into the world of vampires will be up shortly here on The Mighty Dragon – not to be missed.

As you may recall, I had the honour of reading Phillip’s Dracula script which recently won the Best Feature Script at the Vegas Movie Awards. Congratulations go to Phillip but it wasn’t a total surprise to me though after reading this fantastic piece of work. This level of skill is truly something to aim for, each scene flowed perfectly into the next.

Phillip’s shelf taking the strain of another award

Phillip’s script gave me an idea for The Mighty Dragon, a Dracula series running throughout 2020 (and possibly beyond).  I’m going to explore Bram Stoker’s life, the British places mentioned in the book, plus approach Dracula authors and scriptwriters to see what inspired them to put pen to paper.

I will also look into the history of Vlad III Dracula or Vlad the Impaler as we otherwise know him, to see the events that stirred the cogs in Stoker’s imagination. I’ll also be revisiting classic and modern Dracula movies and reviewing them – one of my favourites being Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992). This bloody trail may also lead me to Transylvania too…

What keeps an audience coming back to this timeless tale of darkness and vampires?

Quite fitting, Vlad III Dracula was also known as Vlad the Dragon, so he is more than welcome to share my house.

“Welcome to my house! Enter freely. Go safely, and leave something of the happiness you bring.”

― Bram Stoker
