I am delighted that Andrea Bartlow has joined me here on The Mighty Dragon to talk about her first TV appearance as a Twi’lek Server on The Book of Boba Fett.
As a Star Wars fan, Andrea stepped straight into her first tv appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. Surely a gift from the Star Wars Universe itself – talk about living the dream!
I was very interested to find out more about this successful model and actress.

You started as a model, can you tell me how you successfully transitioned into acting?
Acting has always been a huge part of my life. I got started in community theater back in Oregon and spent my summers doing musicals and plays. I briefly studied theater in college and always planned to explore TV and Film. When I moved to LA, modeling took on a life of its own, so I focused on that full time for several years. Thankfully for me, I had a super supportive community that pushed me to get back into acting summer of 2020. I got signed and started doing auditions from home that year. That’s the summer I landed “Boba Fett”.

In The Book of Boba Fett, you appear as a “Twi’lek Server” – how long did the make-up and costume take?
Surprisingly, the makeup and costume only took about 2 1/2 hours every day. The team was amazing and it was such a dream to transform into a character like that. I miss her!
How did you feel when you got the call that you’ll be in The Book of Boba Fett?
I still remember the morning so well. My agent, Natalie texted, “I have exciting news, call me!” I freaked. It was my first tv appearance and I am a huge Star Wars fan, so I couldn’t have been more excited.

How did you prepare for this character?
As I mentioned, I was a pretty big Star Wars fan growing up, so I was familiar with the world and had a pretty good understanding of the character I was going to be playing. But I totally geeked out on The Mandalorian months before I started shooting and studied up on the Twi’lek species.I certainly had to wrap my mind around working alongside Jennifer Beals, as well. That was pretty special for me as I’ve been a fan of hers for years.
Have you any behind-the-scenes memories that you’d like to share from The Book of Boba Fett?
I remember it was a particularly long day on set and while we were on a break, Temuera Morrison got up and started serenading everyone in the room. He took a mic or maybe it was a megaphone… we all loved it and it totally lifted everyone’s energy. The whole cast and crew brought that sort of positivity and playfulness. It really was such a great work environment.
Your Instagram account has some very beautiful and artistic shots. Also, dotted throughout are touching snaps of your life behind the lens so to speak. As an actress, do you bring any of your ‘self’ into your characters?
Thank you! Yes absolutely, I find it crucial to bring authentic parts of myself to any character I play. Picturing myself in the characters shoes and how I would feel living that experience is what makes it real.
What else do you have planned for 2022, will we see you back in the Star Wars Universe?
You never know! 😉
