"Interview with the Vampire" was my first role in a foreign production. Four very intense weeks in Pinewood studios. I loved the way Neil Jordan worked with actors, and of course seeing Tom Cruise, Banderas and Brad Pitt at work. I remember the make up took around two hours, it was pretty complicated.
Or was Vlad, as I stated above, a product of his times, doing anything he felt right at the time to survive. This film creatively dives into the man beyond the cape and inspiration for Bram Stoker.
This is an excellent question and the most important challenge a screenwriter must consider when adapting a popular novel. For me, the greatest challenge is selecting the most relevant and entertaining elements required to convey the author’s intended story in a cohesive way.
